Serbia’s 2-0 defeat at Wembley on Thursday ended any hopes they had of reaching World Cup 2026, and the atmosphere may well be a little flat in Leskovac when they host Latvia on Sunday.
The visitors have been out of contention for some time so this game is a dead-rubber. Serbia are the clear favourites but the best angle could be focusing on the goals markets and under 2.5 goals stands out.
Latvia have shipped 13 goals across their seven games but eight of those have been scored by England, meaning they have conceded exactly one goal per-game against the rest of their group rivals.
Serbia may struggle to get themselves up for this game after seeing their World Cup hopes disappear last time out and goals have been an issue for the hosts in any case, with just seven scored in as many qualifiers.
With home advantage, Serbia should still be able to come out on top but Latvia’s can keep things respectable and a 1-0 win for the hosts has a chance.
