Home advantage key for Angers
Angers look to have an easier assignment at home to Auxerre on Sunday, having had to face Lille, Marseille and Monaco – three of the top five – recently. Alexandre Dujeux’s side took two points from those games and they are the best bet here.
They are 14th in Ligue 1, four places and three points above rock-bottom Auxerre, with two wins, four draws and five defeats from their 11 games, while the visitors have just two wins so far.
Auxerre could not break their losing run last time out, going down 1-0 to Marseille in a tightly contested game. They have now lost all eight games this season in which they’ve shipped the first goal.
Auxerre have lost six of their last eight away games in Ligue 1 and need to turn things around. They have failed to win in seven of those matches. They come into this game on the back of three straight defeats.
Auxerre have lost four of their last six Ligue 1 games without scoring and have blanked in three of their last four away matches. They have been unable to find the net in four of their last six league games.
The visitors have struggled to keep things tight at the back this season. Auxerre have failed to keep a clean sheet in 14 of their last 17 Ligue 1 games and have conceded on each of their last six away days.
Angers may be able to edge out Auxerre in a closely-fought game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Auxerre have gone down by a single goal in two of their last three Ligue 1 games.
