Goals at both ends expected in Madrid
Atletico Madrid have scored in 12 successive Primera Liga games and both teams have scored in Sevilla’s last three outings. That looks like the best bet when they meet at the Metropolitano on Saturday.
Atletico Madrid are fourth in the league, seven places and six points above Sevilla, with a record of five wins, four draws and one defeat from their ten games this season. The visitors have won four, drawn one and lost five.
Atletico Madrid have been winners in five of their last seven Primera Liga games and have won five of the last six meetings with Sevilla. In contrast, Sevilla are on a run of poor form, with two defeats in succession.
Sevilla lost 2-1 to Real Sociedad last Friday in their last Primera Liga outing, with Ruben
Vargas finding the net for the hosts in the 16th minute and Nemanja Gudelj notching for Sevilla. The defeat maintained their run of matches with both teams scoring. Sevilla scored with their only shot on target. They were priced as 11/4 outsiders to win the game and suffered a narrow defeat.
It would be no surprise to see the home side find the net, with Atletico Madrid having scored in 14 of their last 16 league games. They have found some form in front of goal recently, including a 5-2 win over Real Madrid in September.
Both teams have scored in seven of Atletico Madrid’s ten Primera Liga games this season, and it has been a winning bet in four of their last six home games. BTTS had come in by half time when Sevilla and Atletico Madrid last clashed in the Primera Liga in April.
Both sides have shown signs of vulnerability at the back. Atletico Madrid have conceded in four of their last six home league games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last nine against Sevilla. For their part, Sevilla have gone three games without keeping a shutout.
A 3-1 win for Atletico Madrid is an appealing correct-score option. The hosts have scored in all ten of their league games this season, and two of their five Primera Liga successes have been by two goals.
