Another cagey clash between pair
Under 2.5 goals looks the bet when Rayo Vallecano host Alaves at Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on Sunday. It has been seven Primera Liga meetings since the last time a game between this pair produced three goals or more and there have been fewer than three goals in six of Rayo Vallecano’s last eight league games.
Alaves are one place above Rayo Vallecano in the table with just a point separating the two teams. The hosts are 11th with three wins, two draws and four defeats, while Alaves have three wins, three draws and three losses.
Rayo Vallecano are in form, aiming for a third straight Primera Liga success, but Alaves have been in patchy form recently, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six games.
Alaves’ 0-0 draw with Valencia in their last Primera Liga outing kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals. Alaves were priced as 13/10 favourites to win but were unable to reward their backers.
Six of Rayo Vallecano’s last seven Primera Liga home games have stayed under 2.5 goals and there have been fewer than three goals in ten of Alaves’ last 12 away games.
The visitors have been hard to break down this season. No team has a tighter defence than Alaves in the Primera Liga, with just eight goals against in nine games, and they have conceded just three goals away from home.
A 1-0 win for Alaves looks like a decent correct-score bet. Four of Rayo Vallecano’s last six Primera Liga games have ended with at least one of the sides failing to score and three of their four reverses this season have been by a single goal.
