Oxford Backed to Deepen Wednesday’s Woes
Oxford can be backed to win at Hillsborough on Saturday, with Sheffield Wednesday out of form. The hosts have gone seven home games without a win in the Championship and have failed to win nine of their last ten at home.
Oxford are four places and three points above Sheffield Wednesday in the table. The visitors, who have won two, drawn three and lost six of their 11 games this season, are 20th, while Sheffield Wednesday are propping up the table with just one win so far.
Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough on Wednesday in their last Championship outing and could not break their losing run. The home side were priced as 18/5 outsiders to win the game and suffered a narrow defeat.
Sheffield Wednesday are in a slump. They have lost five of their last six Championship home games and are without a win in five matches, with their last three games all ending in defeat.
The home side have been vulnerable defensively, failing to keep a clean sheet in 20 of their last 21 Championship games. No team has shipped more goals in the division this season than the 23 goals Sheffield Wednesday have conceded.
Sheffield Wednesday’s struggles in front of goal are a major concern. They have gone five of their last six home games in the Championship without scoring, and have been beaten in five of those games.
With four of Oxford’s last five Championship matches producing under 2.5 goals, a 2-0 away win looks a decent option for correct-score bettors.
