Bayern Munich welcome Club Brugge to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night and it’s hard to see past a comfortable Champions League three points for the German giants. Belgian teams have not fared well in Bavaria with Bayern having won all five previous clashes with clubs from the country.
Vincent Kompany’s men could not be in better form or mood after winning their tenth (11 if you count the Super Cup) game in a row on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat of Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker.
They are scoring plenty of goals (38 in 10) with Harry Kane spearheading an outrageously talented forward line that seems not to be missing injured Jamal Musiala too much. And the Bundesliga champions have not conceded more than one in any of their last seven outings with three clean sheets in that span.
Brugge can bag in likely loss
One of last season’s surprise packages in this competition, Brugge began their Champions League campaign with a 4-1 home trouncing of Monaco. But they fell to a 2-1 loss to Atalanta in Bergamo on Matchday Two and are potentially without several key defenders in Munich.
That probably spells trouble against a team as ruthless as Bayern, who can secure a victory with a couple of goals to spare against teams of a much higher standing than Blauw-Zwart.
