Grimsby can see off out-of-form visitors
Grimsby should be backed to get a home victory over Colchester on Saturday. The visitors were 6-2 winners against Chesterfield in their last League Two game, but they face a tougher task at Blundell Park.
Grimsby are third in League Two, six points off the top with six wins, three draws and two defeats from their 11 games this season, while Colchester are 19th, with two wins, five draws and four losses.
The hosts are on a roll, Grimsby going for a third successive League Two win.
Grimsby have been impressive defensively at home this season, conceding just four goals in five League Two games – an average of 0.80 goals per game. In contrast, Colchester have failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 of their last 14 league games.
Colchester are enduring a rough spell, having won just one of their last eight League Two matches. They have failed to win any of their last three away games, and come into this match on the back of two defeats on the road.
Colchester will be buzzing after their 6-2 thrashing of Chesterfield last weekend, defying odds of 2/1 to secure a commanding victory but their road form is dodgy.
Grimsby have looked dangerous up front this season, scoring an average of over three goals a game in their matches against bottom-half teams. No team has scored more League Two goals this season than Grimsby’s 23 in 11 games.
They may be able to edge out Colchester in a closely-fought game, with a 3-1 home win the correct-score pick. Both teams have scored in eight of Colchester’s 11 League Two games this season and this should be high-scoring.
