Wanderers are the value pick
Wycombe might be the value to overcome the difference in league positions when they host Barnsley on Saturday. The visitors are ninth and Wycombe 20th, but Michael Duff’s side have enjoyed two straight League One successes at Adams Park.
The league table shows Barnsley 11 places and eight points clear, with the Tykes having won five of their ten games to Wycombe’s two but Wanderers are on the up.
Recent results underline the visitors’ wobble. Barnsley lost 2-0 to Port Vale last weekend, a disappointing result for a side priced as 11/10 favourites, and they did not manage a single shot on target. That slump is part of a wider trend – the Tykes have lost their last two League One games, their last two away matches and have failed to score in both. Defensively, the picture is just as concerning, with the visitors failing to keep a clean sheet in 22 of their last 23 League One games.
Given Barnsley’s struggles, Wycombe may be able to edge this, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Both teams have scored in six of the Chairboys’ ten League One games this season and they were 2-1 winners last time they met the Tykes in the league.
