Things could get worse for Dons
Aberdeen lifted their first Scottish Cup since 1990 back in May but since then things have gone downhill rapidly for the Dons.
The pressure is mounting on manager Jimmy Thelin with his side not having scored in 674 minutes of league action, taking just a single point from six matches to sit bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.
Aberdeen have already been knocked out of the League Cup and lost 5-2 on aggregate to FCSB in the Europa League play-off.
As a result they have landed in the Conference League and get their campaign started by hosting Shakhtar Donetsk.
Visitors too strong
The Ukrainian side are currently top of the table domestically, beat Besiktas and Servette in European qualifying and should prove too strong for the Dons, who are close to rock bottom at present.
The away team played in the Champions League group stages last season, beating Young Boys and Brest as well as drawing with Bologna.
Anything near that level of form should be far too much for this current Aberdeen side and Shakhtar are fancied to overcome a goal deficit on the handicap to further increase the pressure on Thelin, who may well be out of a job if they lose heavily here.
