Despite showing signs of progress under Vitor Pereira and winning a club-record six Premier League games in a row in the early part of Spring, the rest of 2025 has been extremely frustrating for Wolves, who find themselves propping up the table after four matches.
After a tricky start, Wanderers survived comfortably last term and finished 17 points clear of the drop zone. However, being the only side to lose their opening four matches, they may have a tougher fight on their hands this time around.
That being said, those defeats have come against in-form pair Everton and Bournemouth – the latter when reduced to ten men – as well as Champions League sides Manchester City and Newcastle.
One thing all of those sides have in common is an extremely talented attack. That is something Wolves’ next opponents, Leeds, certainly do not possess, meaning Wanderers have a golden opportunity to secure their first points of the campaign on Saturday.
Misfiring Leeds likely to struggle again
The Whites, Championship winners last term, showed plenty of promise on their Premier League return, dominating Everton to land a 1-0 victory. However, despite racking up 21 shots, their winner came via a Lukas Nmecha penalty and their poor finishing in that victory has proven to be ominous.
Leeds are yet to score an open-play goal in the league and have been beaten to nil on their two away trips to Arsenal (5-0) and Fulham (1-0), setting this Molineux visit up to be another frustrating affair for Daniel Farke’s men.
Gomes a huge price to bag another goal
Wolves’ task will be made harder by the absence of injured star forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored 14 goals last season, and any win is likely to come via a narrow margin.
Leeds are unlikely to break through a resolute Wanderers backline, so expect a nought next to the visitors’ name on the scoreboard, while Pereira’s men did score twice against Everton in their last home game, so a 2-0 home win is the most appealing correct-score bet.
Right wing-back Rodrigo Gomes netted one of those goals against the Toffees and despite impressing this term, he is a huge price to score on Saturday. He was on target in the EFL Cup win over West Ham, too, while he racked up three shots against Newcastle last Saturday, making 6-1 look massive for a wing-back who loves to get forward.
