Tykes can take down Royals
Barnsley are more dangerous in the final third than their opponents and they should be backed to get the win when they host Reading at Oakwell on Saturday.
They are sixth in League One, with four wins from their six games this season, while Reading are in 20th place, having won just once. Barnsley are 14 places and eight points above Reading in the table.
Barnsley beat Huddersfield 3-1 two weeks ago to keep up their recent winning trend. Davis Keillor-Dunn scored twice, including the opener in the ninth minute, and Luca Connell also found the net. This was expected to be a close match, but Barnsley were comfortable winners, restricting Huddersfield to one shot on target.
The visitors’ recent away form has been disappointing. Reading have not won any of their three League One away games this season and have failed to secure a victory in their last three matches on the road.
Reading’s defence is a concern. They have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season after three League One road trips and have failed to shut out the opposition in eight of their last ten league games.
The hosts will be optimistic about getting on the scoresheet. Barnsley have netted three goals or more in three of their six League One games this season, and have averaged 1.75 goals a game in their four matches against bottom-half teams.
A 1-0 win for Barnsley looks the best correct-score option. Three of their last four League One games have stayed under 2.5 goals, and a narrow victory is on the cards here.
