But while they will be hoping their streak-snapping victory sees them kick on, Tottenham will be aiming to quickly forget their shock result – a 1-0 home loss to Bournemouth.
Spurs had enjoyed an excellent start to the season, cruising to a 3-0 win over Burnley before landing an impressive 2-0 victory at Manchester City, but their 1-0 loss to the Cherries and West Ham’s City Ground success means Saturday’s London derby between the Lilywhites and Hammers is not a clearcut betting heat like it would have been one game prior.
Spurs set to be frustrated by rivals
Based on the sides’ opening two matches, Spurs would have been worthy favourites two weeks ago. However, they lost the expected goals battle 0.2-1.5 to the Cherries and managed just one shot on target, making them hard to trust against a rejuvenated West Ham.
Graham Potter switched formation to a 4-2-3-1 against Forest and the Hammers immediately looked much better. Mateus Fernandes’ energy improved the midfield and the return of Crysencio Summerville added a new dimension to their attack, suggesting the hosts should have enough to earn a point at the London Stadium.
West Ham are a big price and almost tempting in the draw-no-bet market, but a run of six home games without a win is enough to temper enthusiasm, especially with the latest result in that run being a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea.
Paqueta poised to continue fine form
A win may prove beyond Potter’s men but he can work his magic to earn a point and ensure they build upon an excellent result in Nottingham.
The head-to-head form also swings the balance in West Ham’s favour, with the east London outfit often getting up for this derby more than Spurs, who have won just one of the last five meetings with the Hammers.
Two of the last three clashes have finished level, though, again making the draw the most appealing bet. Each of those stalemates saw the sides net a single goal apiece, so that should be the pick for a correct-score punt, with Lucas Paqueta fancied to net the hosts’ solitary strike.
The Brazilian has scored three goals in four appearances for West Ham this term and also found the net against Chile while away with Brazil last week.
