Pearce to fire York through
Oldham were 4-0 winners against Halifax in the last round of the National League playoffs, but they face a much bigger test in Tuesday’s visit to York.
The hosts finished second in the table, 13 points ahead of third-placed Forest Green. They finished the campaign with seven wins from their final eight games, while the hosts picked up 16 home wins.
Oldham lost four of their final seven regular-season games, while they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to York at home earlier in the campaign.
York striker Olliver Pearce was on the scoresheet in that victory, on his way to an impressive 31 goals in 44 starts. The striker has scored 74 times across his last two league campaigns and that level of scoring threat should give them the edge over Oldham.
Back York to build on their fine home record to progress to the final, while Pearce can get on the scoresheet in a commanding 3-1 victory.
