HJK’s start to the season has been embarrassingly poor. They lost the local derby against Gnistan 0-1, and there were none of the small positive moments seen in the matches against SJK and Ilves. The message from HJK’s sporting management is clear: the course must be corrected immediately against VPS. VPS, for its part, has also failed to reach the expected level early in the season. Last time, they deservedly lost 0-2 at home against one of the league’s top teams, FC Inter. They also struggled defensively in the previous match against newly promoted KTP. HJK seems to have fallen into a psychological slump after the disappointments starting with the Liigacup final. The coaching staff bears the responsibility for results, but the experienced players must perform better on the field. HJK should be valued as roughly a 57 percent favorite for the match... but the main thing here for this choice is that VPS likely miss their best striker Borchers and in that case they would not score. Not even vs HJK who are probably changing their coach rather sooner than later
