Leeds have been knocked off their perch in the Championship after a run of just one win in their last four games and they face a tough assignment in one of the early kick offs on Saturday against a Luton side scrapping for survival.
The Hatters are in very real danger of suffering back-to-back relegations as they sit two points adrift of safety, although they have found a bit of form and are unbeaten in three ahead of Leeds’ visit (W2, D1).’
A victory for the away side would see them reclaim top spot, at least temporarily, as leaders Sheffield United play later in the day.
Daniel Farke’s side won the reverse fixture 3-0 and could have won by a bigger margin on the balance of play. Leeds should be able to get back to winning ways at Luton after successive draws – but a clean sheet may be beyond them as they face a team battling for survival.
Luton have won three of their last five but all of those victories have come against direct rivals in the bottom eight. Leeds have just one point to show from their last two trips to Portsmouth and QPR, but were arguably unlucky not to win both of those games and they can respond with three points at Kenilworth Road.
The Yorkshire outfit have struggled for clean sheets lately and they have conceded in six of their last seven games. Goals have been an issue for Luton this season – they have the worst attack in the league with just 35 goals in 39 games – but Leeds have shown a few signs of vulnerability of late and the hosts are in a bit of form, so they can at least strike in defeat.
Luton haven’t conceded more than twice in any home game since their first fixture of the season at Kenilworth Road, so a 2-1 win for Leeds seems a reasonable correct score prediction.
