Chivu’s pragmatism has made Parma harder to beat
Verona and Parma produced a five-goal thriller when they met at Stadio Ennio Tardini earlier this season, but the prospects of another high-scoring contest look slim for Monday night’s meeting.
New Parma head coach Cristian Chivu has instilled some solidity to his side’s backline with a heap of pragmatism after being brought in to arrest their slide towards the relegation zone. Bonny is backable to bag again
Although they are coming into this clash off the back of another decent win, away at Udinese, they are too untrustworthy to be supported for a follow-up victory. Paulo Zanetti’s side have played all three of the teams in the relegation zone at home this season, winning one and losing heavily to both Monza and Empoli.
Backing the match to feature fewer than three goals looks much more inviting given both clubs have not sen a third goal in four of their last five matches. Parma’s young striker Ange-Yoan Bonny was their saviour at Monza with a brilliant late equaliser that began with him beating two defenders near the half-way line and ended with him curling a beauty into the top corner from the edge of the box.
The young Frenchman looks likely to be the visitors’ main goal threat on Monday night and is attractively priced to register a seventh goal of the campaign.
