Fulham without Mitrovic is not much, and I disagree with their actual position and the points. Let us have a look at performance ratings:
They are 13th with 11 points so far. There are three wins, but against Everton, Luton and Sheffield United, who currently are at positions of 16th, 17th and 20th. There is also the weird 2-2 draw away at Arsenal, but the result is mostly explained by good luck as Arsenal scored a lot of xG, shot 11 times on target but the heroics of keeper and man of the match Leno saved Leno on that day.
Performancewise the good teams have completely destroyed Fulham this season, whose hopes on survival rely on winning the right games, which they have done so far, but only just.
What about Tottenham, they lost Harry Kane to Bayern, and signed a coach not many believed in. Yet, they have been the big surprise of the season, and with a win tonight they will be in top of the league, ahead of City, Arsenal and Liverpool!
Have they been lucky?
Yes and no. The style of the coach Postecoglu is entertaining and aggressive, and looking at the numbers only they should had conceded a few more goals, but in a bigger picture they have performed very well, hand in hand with other top teams so they are not a fake.
Their schedule has not been the most difficult just yet, they have met mostly bottom and top teams, not the middle table ones. Still, they have won over Man Utd and Liverpool, drew with Arsenal. What worries me a bit here is that against other bottom teams Luton and Sheffield they did not beat this handicap. It is touch and whether they win by 2 goals, the xG suggests that they could and can, but will they?
Tottenham of today is strong in the open play, but they have suffered with set pieces in both boxes.
There is a long list of absentees at Tottenham, but that is not really changed since the previous rounds apart from suspended midfielder Bissouma. He is likely replaced by Höjberg, who is classy.
At Fulham the one guaranteed change is the central back Diop due injury.
Unless the international break has damaged the good form of Tottenham I see them fully dominating this one, and to beat the handicap by more than 50 % probability tonight in London.
