A six-game winning streak has seen Middlesbrough overtake an ailing Coventry side, moving top of the Championship. The league’s top two meet on Monday night in a huge clash in the promotion chase, with Kim Hellberg’s side aiming to extend their winning run.
A 2-1 victory at Sheffield United last Monday was Middlesbrough’s third successive win on the road, and Boro have scored at least twice in each of those victories.
Coventry won the reverse clash 4-2 at the Riverside in November, but they’ve won only four of 13 games since the beginning of December. That run has brought 2-0 and 3-0 defeats to third-placed Ipswich, while defensive issues have plagued them all campaign.
Only eight Championship sides have faced more shots on target than the Sky Blues, so in-form Boro should get chances.
Tommy Conway is in fine form for the visitors, scoring four goals across his last four games. He’s found the net in wins at Stoke and Sheffield United, and he can help Boro to score another couple of goals against the out-of-sorts hosts.
