Valencia should edge past Real Oviedo in Monday’s La Liga clash at Mestalla, but the visitors have shown enough attacking spark to suggest they won’t go quietly.
Carlos Corberan’s side have been solid at home, winning two of their three league games at the Mestalla this term while earning convincing wins over Athletic Club and Getafe.
Hugo Duro has been coming off the bench to good affect and his goal looked likely to give them all three points at Espanyol last weekend until Javi Puado’s stoppage-time leveller. Arnaut Danjuma also scored in that game and now has three goals in six league games this term.
Both teams to score at the Mestalla
Real Oviedo, meanwhile, have been finding this tough on their return to the top flight after a long absence. They have lost five of their first six games and only just found a way to beat fellow strugglers Real Sociedad a few weeks ago.
However, Thursday’s 3-1 home defeat to Barcelona could be seen in a positive light as Veljko Paunovic’s side led until 10 minutes into the second half as Barca’s quality off the bench finally told.
Both teams have shown they can find the net, but Valencia’s home form and attacking depth should see them through. Back Valencia to win and both teams to score, with a 2-1 home victory looking a likely outcome based on recent trends.
