- Under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of AC Milan’s last four matches in league and cup.
- AC Milan have won to nil in each of their last two Serie A fixtures (vs Lecce and Bologna).
- Udinese have lost each of their last three meetings with AC Milan.
Rock-solid Milan to keep things tight at the Bluenergy Stadium
AC Milan limped to a shock 2-1 reverse at home to Cremonese on the opening weekend of the new Serie A campaign, though the Rossoneri have played with all the hallmarks of a typical Max Allegri team since.
Back-to-back wins over Lecce (2-0) and Bologna (1-0), either side of the international break, were both accompanied by clean sheets, with Allegri’s famed back-three defensive system at Milan beginning to take shape.
Milan restricted Lecce to just two shots on target in late August, while Bologna failed to land a single accurate effort on goal in their 1-0 loss to Allegri’s side on Sunday. That was the first time Bologna failed to score in a fixture against Milan since 2021.
With Allegri starting to carve this side in his image, we expect a defensive focus from Milan again on Saturday and the under 2.5 goal market offers plenty of appeal as a result.
Unbeaten Udinese have conceded only twice in three Serie A fixtures so far and are similarly risk-averse, so margins are likely to be slim at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Udinese’s unblemished record could be under threat on Saturday, however. They’ve lost each of their last three meetings with Milan and failed to score in two encounters between the clubs last term. With Milan’s 1-0 win over Bologna last weekend providing the blueprint, the defensively robust visitors can prevail by a similar scoreline at Udinese.
