Lyon picked up an important victory away at Brest on the return to Ligue 1 football on Wednesday evening.
Head coach Laurent Blanc was thrilled to see his men bagging four goals on the occasion as four different players added their names to the scoresheet in mid-week.
The team’s top scorer Alexander Lacazette was among them, taking his league tally to double-digits after successfully converting the first-half penalty.
Lyon still have a long way to go before joining the battle for the European positions. They are currently 8th in the league standings with seven points between them and the third-placed Rennes.
However, this was a bright restart for Laurent Blanc and his troops who will get a great chance to begin the year with a victory as they play host to struggling Clermont Foot on Sunday afternoon at Groupama Stadium.
